Camila's News

February 2010.

Dear friends and family,

Receive a big hug from Gabriola Island; we hope you are well enjoying good health and a mild winter complete with Olympic excitement.
Just in case you are wondering how Camila is doing, here is an update for you.

Last summer Camila was so eager to become 13 that she couldn’t wait until November so she organized a kayak adventure in August. She took off with friends and guides bound to celebrate the beginning of her teenage years on a beautiful sunny afternoon paddling on Gabriola’s calm waters. It was her very own idea.

Summer ended and school began. Grade 8th involves the ferry to Nanaimo, getting up earlier and coming back home later; it has been 6 months and so far she loves her new classes and all her new friends. Her good grades already got her into the Honour Roll.

She joined the basket ball team at school; after a series of intense games, the “Islanders” reached the finals. Camila, with an injured ankle from a previous game, couldn’t play that night but went to cheer her team on, thinking ahead on the probable outcome, she brought a bag full of chocolate bars, at the end, they had a sweet loss. They were happy.

School activity is taking much of her time but horse activities are still happening.
She became a senior member at her 4H club and for the first time she took part in a “Hi-Point English” competition off island; I was not sure if I could attend, so the night before, Camila simply said to me “if you don’t go, you’ll miss seeing me win”… sounds familiar?
She finished 1st place all around in her category. I witnessed it and I never heard back “I told you”.

Camila is entering her teenage years; I’m certain that our ride through life together will remain smooth because when she forgets her age and without knowing she reveals her natural inner beauty, after all she carries Peter’s beautiful soul and her very own sweet spirit, reminding me she is the result of true love.
I will always be thankful to Peter for making sure I was not left alone, instead I was left with you, family and friends and in the company of our “little girl” the most wonderful thing in my life, Camila.

Thank you for your love,

Ana.
